Etihad Expands Network with 10 New Routes, Including Atlanta and Hanoi
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has announced the addition of ten new destinations to its global network in 2025. This significant expansion aligns with the airline's strategic vision of enhancing Abu Dhabi's status as a hub for global tourism and business.
Etihad's CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, emphasized that the new routes cater to passenger demand for diverse travel experiences. "We select destinations that align with our passengers' diverse needs, from scenic landscapes to business opportunities," said Neves. The airline's move underscores its commitment to offering enhanced connectivity and convenience for international travelers.
The expansion includes key destinations across Africa, North America, and Asia, enriching Etihad's network to over 90 destinations in more than 50 countries. Among the highlights, Etihad will launch routes to Algiers and Tunis in Africa, showcasing destinations with rich cultural heritage and Mediterranean charm. In North America, Atlanta has become a strategic gateway, connecting travelers to the southeastern United States' economic and cultural hubs.
In Asia, seven new routes highlight Etihad's focus on connecting passengers to dynamic cities and scenic locations. Hong Kong, Taipei, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Chiang Mai, Krabi, and Medan offer a blend of urban attractions, historical landmarks, and natural beauty. These destinations cater to both leisure and business travelers, reinforcing the airline's goal of meeting diverse customer preferences.
This network expansion marks Etihad's largest single-day announcement of new routes, reflecting its operational readiness and confidence in future growth. The initiative is expected to bring tens of thousands of additional visitors to Abu Dhabi, bolstering its position as a global tourism destination. With year-round sunshine, world-class cultural attractions, pristine beaches, and luxury hospitality, Abu Dhabi aims to captivate a growing number of international travelers.
Etihad's expansion plan is supported by significant investments in fleet and infrastructure. By 2025, the airline expects to operate more than 110 aircraft, including the advanced Airbus A321LRs, and to serve over 20 million passengers. The recently enhanced Zayed International Airport provides ample capacity for growth while maintaining top-tier passenger experiences.
To further encourage tourism, Etihad has strengthened its stopover program in collaboration with Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism. Travelers can enjoy complimentary one- or two-night stays at premium hotels, allowing them to explore Abu Dhabi's rich offerings.
The airline's loyalty program, Etihad Guest, will also receive upgrades. The program will offer members enhanced earning and redemption options and exclusive benefits across the expanded network. This growth strategy solidifies Etihad's position as a leading global carrier. It also supports Abu Dhabi's vision as a top destination for leisure and business travelers.
