Best time to sail
The South Pacific is warm year-round, but the dry season from May through October is the most comfortable, with temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit, lower humidity and trade winds that keep things pleasant. July and August are peak for humpback whales in French Polynesia and Tonga. The wet season from November through April is hotter and more humid, with short heavy showers and the highest chance of tropical storms between January and March; it is also greener, quieter and often easier to book. Fiji follows a similar pattern. Tahiti's cruise season runs all year, while Sydney- and Auckland-based South Pacific loops concentrate in the Southern Hemisphere summer, October through April.
