Carry-On baggage
Passengers can bring a carry-on bag that meets specific weight and size restrictions. These rules ensure safety and comfort in the cabin.
Carry-on Dimensions- Economy Class: 1 bag with dimensions of 55x40x20 cm.
- Comfort Light Class: 1 bag with dimensions of 55x40x20 cm.
- Comfort Plus Class: 1 bag with dimensions of 55x40x20 cm.
- Economy Class: Maximum weight is 8 kg (17 lbs).
- Comfort Light Class: Maximum weight is 8 kg (17 lbs).
- Comfort Plus Class: Maximum weight is 15 kg (33 lbs).
Note: Passengers connecting with SATA Air Açores can carry up to 13 kg in Comfort Class.
Free Hand-Baggage Items
Passengers are allowed one additional small item (40x30x15 cm) as long as the combined weight of the carry-on and this item does not exceed the baggage limit. Examples include:
- A laptop bag, a small backpack, or a lady’s handbag.
- A garment bag or a small pouch with electronic devices.
- Items such as overcoats, umbrellas, books, or magazines for onboard use.
- All carry-on items must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat.
- Excess cabin baggage may need to be checked into the hold at no extra charge.
- Ensure that essential travel documents remain with you at all times.
Checked Baggage
Checked baggage policies vary depending on the class of travel and the fare purchased. Passengers are encouraged to pre-plan and know their limits to avoid unnecessary fees.
Allowance per Fare Type- Economy Basic: 1 piece with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Economy Flex: 1 piece with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Economy Top: 2 pieces with a total weight of up to 46 kg (100 lbs). Each piece cannot exceed 23 kg.
- Comfort Light Class: 2 pieces with a total weight of up to 46 kg (100 lbs). Each piece cannot exceed 23 kg.
- Comfort Plus Class: 2 pieces with a total weight of up to 64 kg (141 lbs). Each piece cannot exceed 32 kg (70 lbs).
- Ensure that bags are packed securely in rigid suitcases or similar containers.
- Improperly packed items (e.g., tied items or boots attached externally) will not be accepted.
Extra baggage (Overweight and Oversized)
If your baggage exceeds the free allowance, additional fees apply. These fees depend on the weight and size of your luggage.
Azores Airlines Baggage Fee- Additional baggage: €50 per item.
- Overweight baggage(above 23 kg but below 32 kg): €60 per item.
Note: Baggage exceeding 32 kg is only accepted as cargo, with special cargo fees applicable.
Special Items
- Sports equipment, musical instruments, and pets in the hold are transported free of charge if within the free baggage allowance. Otherwise, special service fees will apply.
