Azores Airlines' unaccompanied minor policy
Azores Airlines offers a special service for children aged 5-11 who are traveling without adult supervision. This unaccompanied minor service (as of 22 January 2025) ensures that the child is well taken care of throughout their journey, including assistance after check-in and during the flight.
Age: 5 to 11 years old unaccompanied minors are allowed to travel alone with an Azores Airlines unaccompanied minor fee.
- EUR 40: For domestic flights and European destinations.
- EUR 100: For flights from Portugal to Canada or the US.
- CAD 150: For flights from Canada to Portugal.
- USD 150: For flights from the US to Portugal.
Note: These fees apply to flights operated by Azores Airlines or SATA Air Açores. For code-share flights, the fee may vary.
Children over 3 months but under 5 years old may travel with a flight attendant's assistance throughout the journey. This service requires an advance booking at least 72 hours before departure and comes with a surcharge equivalent to an adult fare. The adult's contact information must be provided for pickup at the destination.
Required Documentation- Documents: A completed Azores Airlines Unaccompanied Minor form is required, along with appropriate identification, such as a passport or birth certificate.
- Booking Information: Include the child's full name, date of birth and contact details of the responsible adults at the departure and arrival airports.
- Flight with Connections: For connecting flights, provide additional contact details for the transfer airports. If no escort is available for the stopover, boarding will be refused.
Azores Airlines' infant policy
Azores Airlines welcomes infants aged 7 days to under 2 years old. There are different travel options for babies, offering flexibility and comfort.
Age Guidelines and Documentation- Babies (INF): Between 7 days and under 2 years old at the time of departure.
- Children (CHD): Between 2 and 11 years old, they must purchase a seat and travel with an adult aged 18 or older.
- Laptop Seat: Babies can travel on the lap of an adult at a reduced fare. The baby must remain on the lap for the entire flight, and the adult must be seated in a location with an additional oxygen mask (not near emergency exits).
- Seat Purchase: Alternatively, parents can buy a seat for their baby, which includes a certified child safety seat. The seat must be approved for use in aircraft and can be provided by the parent. A child fare is applied for this option.
Azores Airlines allows car seats and child restraint systems for infants and young children, provided they meet safety standards and are suitable for use on the aircraft.
