Best time to visit Gold Coast & Cairns

The Gold Coast has a subtropical climate that is pleasant all year, with warm summers from December to February, mild winters from June to August and very comfortable spring and autumn months; the ocean is swimmable in every season. Cairns is tropical, with a hot, humid wet season from November through April and a dry season from May through October that brings sunny days, lower humidity and the calmest, clearest reef conditions. Marine stinger season on the north Queensland coast runs roughly November through May, when beach swimming is done in netted areas or with a stinger suit.
