Best time to visit Perth & Western Australia

Perth and the south-west have a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers from December through February with highs often in the 90s Fahrenheit, and mild, wetter winters from June through August. Spring, September through November, is the standout season, with warm days, cool nights and the famous wildflower bloom in Kings Park and the countryside. Autumn, March through May, is also excellent, with calm seas for Rottnest and harvest in Margaret River. The north operates on a different clock: the whale shark season at Ningaloo runs roughly March through July, humpback whales pass from June through October, and Broome and the Kimberley are best in the dry season from May through October, avoiding the hot, humid wet season.
