Best time to visit Samoa
Samoa is tropical, with temperatures in the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit all year. The dry season from May through October is the most comfortable, with lower humidity, trade winds and clearer water, and it is the recommended time for most visitors. The wet season from November through April is hotter and more humid, with heavy afternoon rain and a cyclone risk that peaks between December and March; waterfalls are at their most powerful then and hotels are quieter. Teuila Festival in September brings dance, music and outrigger racing to Apia. Where to stay: areas and resort styles

Getting there from the US
There are no nonstop flights from the mainland US to Samoa. The most direct routing connects through Honolulu, where the onward flight to Apia takes roughly 5.5 to 6 hours; total travel from the West Coast is roughly 12 to 14 hours plus connection time. Alternatively you can fly to Auckland or Nadi and connect from there, which suits a multi-country itinerary. Samoa sits just west of the International Date Line, so you lose a day heading there and regain it on return. US passport holders generally receive an entry permit on arrival for tourist stays of up to 90 days, with a valid passport and onward ticket; verify current requirements before travel. The currency is the Samoan tala, Samoan and English are official, and Samoa is 18 hours ahead of US Eastern Time, or 17 during US daylight saving.
