Best time to visit Croatia
The Dalmatian coast has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. Late May through June and September through early October are the ideal windows: the sea is warm, the days are long and sunny, ferries run frequently and the old towns are lively without the peak crush. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, when Dubrovnik's walls and Hvar's harbor are packed and cruise-ship crowds arrive midday. April, May and October are excellent for Plitvice, Krka and city touring, with waterfalls at full flow in spring. From November to March many island hotels and catamaran routes pause, so winter visits work best for Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik at their quietest.
