Best time to visit Italy

April through June and September through October are the best months across most of Italy: warm, mostly dry days, long evenings and manageable crowds. July and August are hot — Rome and Florence often top 90°F — and busy. November through March is quiet and often rainy, but it is the easiest time to see the Vatican Museums and the Uffizi without lines, and December brings Christmas markets in the north, nativity displays in Naples and festive lights everywhere. Italy keeps Central European Time, six hours ahead of US Eastern.
