A Europe tour package for an Indian family from the USA usually means 10 to 15 days on a Paris, Switzerland and Italy route, or London, Paris and Switzerland, with nonstop flights from your US airport, family rooms for grandparents, trains or a private coach between cities, guided sightseeing and vegetarian or Jain meal requests arranged in writing. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour and a travel expert plans and books the whole custom trip with you by phone.

Europe is a dream trip for many Indian-American families: the Eiffel Tower, snow in the Swiss Alps in June, gondolas in Venice and the Colosseum in Rome, often with grandparents visiting from India and children on summer break. Fond Travels does not run fixed group departures. We plan and book a custom trip for your family only, so the pace, the hotels, the food and the travel days fit three generations.

A 13-day Paris, Switzerland and Italy itinerary

For a first family trip to Europe, three countries in 12 to 14 nights is the comfortable maximum with elders along. We keep at least two or three nights in each base, so bags are unpacked and grandparents are never rushed onto an early train. For London, Paris and Switzerland, we swap the Italy days for three nights in London and take the Channel Tunnel train to Paris, about 2 hours 20 minutes.

Nonstop flights from the US to Europe

Europe is one of the easiest long-haul trips for families because so many routes are nonstop. Depending on the season, there are nonstop flights to Paris, London, Zurich, Rome and Milan from Newark (EWR), New York JFK, Washington Dulles (IAD), Chicago O'Hare (ORD), Houston (IAH) and San Francisco (SFO), though not every city is served from every airport. From the East Coast, Paris and London are about 7 hours and Rome about 9 hours; from Chicago and Houston, add one to two hours; from San Francisco, expect about 10 to 12 hours.

We usually book an open-jaw ticket: fly into Paris or London and home from Rome or Milan, so the family never backtracks. For grandparents, we request wheelchair or cart assistance at every airport, pick seats together, note vegetarian or Jain meals on the ticket, and look at premium economy or business class for the overnight flight.

When to go: the best months for a family Europe tour

The best months for this route are May, June and September. The days are long, mountain railways and lake boats in Switzerland are running, and the cities are warm without the heat of midsummer.

  • May and early June: fresh snow on the peaks, green valleys, and fewer crowds before US schools close.
  • Late June to August: the school-holiday choice for most families, but the busiest and most expensive time, with heat in Rome and Paris and long lines at major sights. Book 6 to 9 months ahead and pre-book timed tickets.
  • September: warm, calmer and excellent value, a good choice for grandparents and families with younger children.
  • October to April: cooler and quieter; some high Alpine lifts close for maintenance, while the Christmas markets make December special.

What is included in the package

  • Round-trip flights from your US airport, usually open-jaw, with baggage rules and seats explained before you pay.
  • Hotels in each city, chosen for central locations, elevators and family rooms or connecting rooms.
  • Rail tickets or a private coach between cities, with seat reservations on the scenic routes.
  • Airport and station transfers by private vehicle sized for your family and luggage.
  • Guided tours at the Louvre, the Vatican and the Colosseum, plus mountain excursion tickets in Switzerland.
  • Vegetarian and Jain meal requests noted in writing with airlines, hotels and tour operators.
  • Visa support documents: a day-by-day itinerary and booking confirmations for consulate appointments.
  • One contact 24/7 for changes before and during the trip.

Rooms for grandparents, pacing and trains versus a private coach

European hotel rooms are smaller than American ones, and many city hotels have only a few triple or family rooms. For a family of five or six with grandparents, we usually book two connecting or adjoining rooms, a family suite, or an apartment-style hotel with a kitchenette, which also makes it easy to warm simple food. We check for elevators, walk-in showers and a short walk to the station, and we ask for low floors and quiet rooms for elders.

Pacing matters more than the number of sights. We plan one main activity each morning, a long lunch and rest in the afternoon, and an optional evening outing. High Alpine excursions reach about 3,000 to 3,500 meters, so anyone with heart or breathing concerns should check with a doctor, and we can choose a lower peak or a lake cruise instead. Trains or a private coach? Europe's trains are fast, scenic and comfortable, and a family of four to six usually travels well by rail with private transfers at each station. The catch is luggage: bags must be lifted onto the train and stairs at some stations. For groups of about 8 or more, or families with heavy bags or limited mobility, a private coach or van with a driver can go door to door and is often reasonable per person once the cost is shared.

Vegetarian and Jain food in Europe

Food is the question Indian families ask about most, and Europe is easier than many expect. Every major city on this route, including London, Paris, Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome, has Indian restaurants, and Italian food is naturally rich in vegetarian dishes such as pizza, pasta, risotto and minestrone. We plan some Indian dinners into the itinerary and share options near each hotel, without tying you to one menu.

  • Written meal requests: vegetarian, no-egg and Jain needs, meaning no root vegetables, onion or garlic, are sent in writing to airlines, hotels and any tour that includes meals, and we reconfirm them before departure.
  • Breakfast: hotel buffets usually offer bread, cheese, fruit, yogurt, cereal and eggs; we flag rennet and egg questions so elders can choose with confidence.
  • Useful words: "vegetarien" in French, "vegetarisch" in German and "vegetariano" in Italian, plus a printed card that explains Jain rules in each language.
  • Snacks from home: dry vegetarian snacks such as khakhra and thepla are generally fine in luggage, but meat and dairy products cannot be brought into the EU.

For festivals or birthdays on the road, we can request a cake without egg or arrange a private dinner at an Indian restaurant for the whole family. Tell us about allergies and preferences for every traveler when you call, and see how we plan family trips for larger groups.

Entry rules for US citizens in 2026

Governments change these rules often, so confirm them on official sources before you travel. Recent rules for US passport holders:

  • US citizens: no visa is needed for tourist stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen area, which includes France, Switzerland and Italy. Your passport should be valid for at least three months after you leave the Schengen area.
  • EES biometric registration: the Schengen Entry/Exit System has been fully operational since April 10, 2026. On your first entry, each traveler, including children, gives fingerprints and a facial image at the border, so allow extra time on arrival.
  • ETIAS: the European travel authorization has no launch date and is not needed for trips in 2026.
  • UK for London routes: US citizens need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), applied for online before travel.
  • Indian passport holders living in the US: travelers on Indian passports, including green card holders and visa holders, usually need a Schengen visa, and a separate UK visitor visa if London is included. Apply through the consulate of the country where you spend the most nights, as early as allowed, because spring and summer appointments fill fast. Confirm the current rules for each traveler with the consulate.

Before booking, read the current US State Department travel advisory for every country on your itinerary and consider enrolling in its STEP alert service. Rules for travelers on non-US passports, including green card holders, differ, so tell us every traveler's nationality when you call.

How to get more from your budget

  • Travel in May, early June or September for long days, working mountain lifts and softer hotel rates than in July and August.
  • Use an open-jaw ticket into Paris or London and out of Rome or Milan to save a full travel day.
  • Stay longer in fewer places. Three bases in two weeks cuts transfer costs and tiring hotel changes.
  • Book early for summer, especially family rooms, timed Vatican and Louvre tickets, and visa appointments.
