Best time to visit Acapulco

Acapulco is warm year-round with a clear dry and wet split. The dry season runs from November through April, with sunny days in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and lower humidity; it is peak season, and holiday weeks, Easter week (Semana Santa) and US spring break are busiest, since Mexico City families drive down. The rainy season runs June through October, with afternoon downpours, lush hills and quieter hotels; September and October are the wettest months and the core of the Pacific hurricane season, so travel insurance and flexible plans matter more then.

Where to stay: areas and resort styles

Nonstop flights from the US are limited, so most travelers connect through Mexico City; some prefer to fly into Mexico City and continue by private transfer on the toll highway, about 3.5 to 4 hours. In the air, expect roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from Houston or Dallas to central Mexico, 3.5 to 4 from Los Angeles and 5 to 5.5 from New York to Mexico City, then a connection and a flight of under an hour to Acapulco.

US passport holders need a valid passport and must complete the FMM entry form, now commonly handled electronically or on arrival; no visa is needed for tourist stays under 180 days, but verify before travel. The currency is the Mexican peso, Spanish is the language, and Acapulco is on Central Time.
