Best time to visit Malaysia

Malaysia is hot and humid year-round, with temperatures in the upper 80s Fahrenheit, but rainfall varies by coast. The west coast, including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi, is driest from December to March and again in June and July, with heavier showers from September to November. The east coast and its islands, such as the Perhentians, Redang and Tioman, have their season from March to October and largely close during the northeast monsoon from November to February. Malaysian Borneo is wettest from November to February and most pleasant from March to October. For a classic Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi route, December to March is ideal. Major festivals include Chinese New Year, Hari Raya at the end of Ramadan, Thaipusam at the Batu Caves and Deepavali.
