From cherry blossoms in Kyoto to overwater villas in the Maldives, Asia is the most varied region we plan, and a short call is the quickest way to narrow it down.
This hub page covers the whole region: seasons, flight times and entry basics that apply across Asia, with links to each destination page for detail. Whether you want a two-city Japan trip, a beach week in Thailand, or temples and beaches across Cambodia and Vietnam, one team handles every leg.
Why Asia for your vacation
Few regions offer this much contrast in a single trip. Japan pairs neon Tokyo with the temples of Kyoto. Thailand delivers Bangkok street food, northern hill towns and island beaches. Bali and the Maldives are the region's honeymoon icons, one lush and volcanic, the other a chain of coral atolls. Vietnam, Cambodia & Angkor Wat and Laos combine easily on one itinerary. City breaks in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea suit first-time visitors, while India, Sri Lanka and Nepal reward travelers who want culture, wildlife and mountains. Asia vacation packages also stretch further than most, since hotel, food and tour costs in Southeast Asia are modest.
What's included in an Asia package
- Round-trip flights on major airlines from your nearest US gateway, with connections planned so you arrive rested
- Hotel or resort nights with the meal plan you choose: all-inclusive at beach resorts, breakfast included in most city hotels, or room only
- Airport transfers, including speedboat or seaplane transfers to island resorts
- Optional tours and excursions: guided temple days, cooking classes, snorkeling trips, rail passes and escorted segments
- An agent who handles changes, questions and disruptions before and during the trip
Best time to visit Asia
Asia spans several climate zones, so the best month depends on where you land. Japan is at its finest in spring, when cherry blossoms peak from late March into April, and in autumn, when October and November bring crisp air and red maples. Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, has a dry season from roughly November to April and a monsoon from May to October, though Thailand's coasts differ: the Andaman side around Phuket is wettest from May to October, while the Gulf side around Koh Samui sees its heaviest rain from October to December. The Maldives dry season runs December to April, and Bali is driest from May to September. Northern India and Nepal are most comfortable from October to March. Lunar New Year and Christmas are peak periods region-wide, so book those dates early.
Where to stay: areas and resort styles
City trips center on well-connected neighborhoods: Shinjuku and Ginza in Tokyo, Gion in Kyoto, Sukhumvit in Bangkok, Marina Bay in Singapore, Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong and Myeongdong in Seoul. Beach stays split by style. The Maldives runs on a one-island, one-resort model with overwater and beach villas, mostly all-inclusive or full board. Bali offers surf-side Seminyak, cliff-top Uluwatu, resort-lined Nusa Dua and the rice terraces of Ubud, with private pool villas common. Thailand has family all-inclusive resorts on Phuket and Koh Samui alongside adults-only boutique properties in Krabi, and Vietnam's Da Nang coast mixes big beach resorts with heritage hotels in Hoi An. In Japan, a night in a traditional inn with a hot-spring bath is a highlight. Malaysia and the Philippines add island resorts on Langkawi and Palawan, while China and Taiwan lean toward city hotels and escorted touring.
Things to do in Asia
- Watch sunrise over Angkor Wat, then explore the jungle-wrapped temples of Ta Prohm

- Snorkel with manta rays and reef sharks off a Maldives villa deck
- Cruise overnight among the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay

- Walk the blue-tiled squares of Samarkand in Uzbekistan & the Silk Road

Getting there from the US
Nonstop flights from West Coast gateways such as Los Angeles and San Francisco reach Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong in roughly 11 to 14 hours. From New York and other East Coast gateways, expect 14 to 17 hours or more. Bali and the Maldives typically require one connection, often in Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore or Doha, for a total journey of 20 hours or more. For entry, US passport holders are visa-exempt for short tourist stays in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia. Bali (Indonesia) issues a visa on arrival, India and Vietnam require an e-visa arranged before departure, and Sri Lanka requires an electronic travel authorization. Rules change, so verify requirements before travel and carry six months of passport validity. Currencies include the yen, baht, rupiah, won, rupee and dong; US dollars are widely accepted at Maldives resorts. English is common in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and at resorts. Time zones run 12 to 16 hours ahead of US Eastern, so plan for jet lag.
Who this package suits
Couples and honeymooners gravitate to the Maldives, Bali and Japan. Families do well in Thailand, Singapore and Japan, where transport is simple and food is approachable. Seniors who prefer escorted touring at a slower pace can ask about our senior travel reservations. Groups traveling for a wedding, reunion or multi-family trip should start with group travel flights. On flights this long, many travelers upgrade; ask about business class or first class when you call. Solo travelers can join small-group segments for company.
