Best time to visit Oman

Northern Oman, including Muscat, the mountains and the desert, is best from October through April, when daytime highs range from the mid 70s to upper 80s Fahrenheit and nights in the mountains and dunes are cool. December through February is the peak season with the most comfortable touring weather. May through September brings highs above 100°F on the coast, though Jebel Akhdar stays 15 to 20 degrees cooler. Salalah in the far south is the exception: the khareef monsoon from June to September brings mist, waterfalls and green hills, drawing visitors from across the Gulf. Turtle nesting at Ras Al Jinz peaks from June to August. Oman is on UTC+4, eight to nine hours ahead of US Eastern Time depending on daylight saving.

There are no regular nonstop flights between the US and Oman, so your package flights connect through a Gulf or European hub to Muscat International Airport. Total travel time is roughly 15 to 18 hours from East Coast gateways such as New York, Washington and Boston, and roughly 20 to 23 hours from the West Coast, depending on the connection.
