Best time to visit Qatar

Qatar has a hot desert climate with almost no rainfall. The comfortable season runs from November through March, when daytime highs range from the low 70s to mid 80s Fahrenheit and evenings on the Corniche are pleasantly cool. December through February is the peak season and coincides with major sporting and cultural events, so hotels fill early. April, May and October are hot but manageable for pool-focused stays and short outings. June through September brings highs above 105°F with high humidity, when museums, malls and air-conditioned souq lanes become the focus and a stopover is still very workable. During Ramadan, daytime dining is limited outside hotels. Qatar is on Arabia Standard Time, UTC+3, seven to eight hours ahead of US Eastern Time depending on daylight saving.

Hamad International Airport in Doha is a major hub with nonstop flights from New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. Flight times are roughly 12 to 14 hours from East Coast gateways and roughly 16 to 17 hours from the West Coast. US passport holders can generally enter Qatar without a visa for short tourist stays, with a passport valid for six months, but requirements can change, so verify before travel. Transit passengers adding a stopover follow the same entry rules, and the airport is connected to central Doha by metro and taxi in about 20 minutes.
