Assalamu Alaikum. A Ramadan Umrah package for 2027 covers the window of about February 8 to March 9, 2027, subject to the moon sighting, and brings flights from your US airport, hotels in Makkah and Madinah chosen by walking distance, ground transport and help with your Nusuk permits into one plan. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour and a travel expert works through your dates, the last ten nights and every connection with you by phone.
Ramadan is the busiest and most sought-after time of the Umrah year, and it rewards early, careful planning more than any other season. Rooms within a short walk of Masjid al-Haram are taken first, permits and flights move quickly, and the last ten nights sit in a class of their own. This guide is is a travel guide, not a religious one: for the rites themselves, follow your scholar or your group leader.
A sample 12-night Ramadan itinerary
Twelve nights is a comfortable shape for Ramadan: enough time to settle in Madinah, move to Makkah before the crowds build, and still be in place for the last ten nights. We shorten or lengthen either city to match your dates, your leave from work and your budget.
| Days | Where | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Depart the USA | Evening departure from your home airport, usually with one connection in the Gulf, Istanbul or Europe |
| Day 2 | Arrive Madinah | Arrival, transfer to the hotel, rest and the first visit to the Prophet's Mosque |
| Days 3-5 | Madinah | Prayers in the mosque, a Rawdah reservation through the app, ziyarat to the historic sites and quiet days of fasting |
| Day 6 | Train to Makkah | High-speed train to Makkah, ihram from the appointed station or hotel, arrival and the first Umrah |
| Days 7-9 | Makkah | A steady routine of prayers, rest in the afternoon, iftar at the hotel and tarawih at the mosque or in the room |
| Days 10-13 | Makkah, last ten nights | The peak of the month: long nights of qiyam, the odd nights sought for Laylat al-Qadr, and repeat Umrah if you wish |
| Day 14 | Departure | Farewell tawaf, transfer to the airport and the flight home, or a return to Madinah if your ticket requires it |
Flights from the US to Jeddah and Madinah
There is no nonstop service to Saudi Arabia from most US cities. Nonstop flights to Jeddah operate from New York JFK, Washington Dulles (IAD) and Los Angeles (LAX), and travelers from those cities often pay a little more for the simplicity of a single flight. From Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Atlanta, Minneapolis, the Bay Area and everywhere else, the trip runs with one connection in the Gulf, in Istanbul or at a European hub, for roughly 16 to 22 hours door to door.
Gulf schedules have changed through 2026, with routes and timings moved between airports, so we confirm every connection close to booking rather than relying on last season's pattern. In Ramadan we also plan the arrival itself: a landing that puts you at the hotel before dawn is hard on a fasting traveler, so where a choice exists we prefer a morning or early-afternoon arrival and keep the first day light.
Madinah has its own international airport, which makes the common Madinah-first routing straightforward. Many travelers fly into Madinah, take the train to Makkah, and fly home out of Jeddah, and an open-jaw ticket like that usually costs no more than a round trip into one city. We price both shapes and show you the difference before anything is booked.
The 1448 Umrah season and the last ten nights
Every Umrah season runs on the Islamic calendar, and the 1448 season has firm outer edges that a Ramadan trip has to sit inside. All dates that depend on the moon sighting are approximate and are announced closer to the time.
- Ramadan 2027, about February 8 to March 9: the month itself, subject to the moon sighting.
- Last ten nights, about February 27 to March 9: the peak of the season, when the odd nights are sought for Laylat al-Qadr.
- Eid al-Fitr, about March 10, 2027: many travelers stay through Eid, which changes both the flights and the hotel nights.
- Last Umrah visa about March 9, 2027: after that point the season begins to close.
- Last entry about March 23 and last departure about April 7, 2027: your whole trip, arrival and exit, must fall inside those dates, so we check them against your return flight before booking.
The last ten nights are the hardest part of the year to arrange. Hotels nearest Masjid al-Haram sell out first, the mosque and its courtyards fill long before isha, and movement in and out of the area slows to a crawl late at night. We ask you to book 4 to 6 months ahead for a Ramadan trip, and earlier still if the last ten nights are the reason you are going. Travelers who can be flexible often take the first half of the month instead, when the same hotels are easier to hold and the crowds are lighter.
What is included in the package
- Round-trip flights from your US airport, with baggage rules, seats and connection times explained before you pay.
- Hotels in Makkah and Madinah, selected by walking distance and the entrance you would actually use at night.
- Airport and intercity transport, including high-speed train tickets between Madinah and Makkah.
- Help with the Umrah permit reserved through the Nusuk app, and with the separate Rawdah reservation in Madinah.
- Iftar and suhoor arrangements requested with the hotel in writing before arrival.
- Ziyarat by private car in Madinah and around Makkah, timed to avoid the busiest hours.
Choosing a hotel by walking distance, not by photos
In Ramadan the hotel is a logistics decision. You will walk to the mosque and back several times a day, often after midnight, sometimes in a crowd that moves slowly. The honest question is not how the lobby looks but how many minutes the walk takes, whether it is level, and which gate it leads to. A room ten minutes further out can add an hour of walking to every day of the last ten nights.
In Makkah, buildings in the ring closest to Masjid al-Haram put you within a short, covered walk of the courtyards, which matters most for qiyam that ends near suhoor. The next ring out is a walk of roughly ten to twenty minutes and is often the sensible compromise for families. Further out, shuttles run, but in the last ten nights traffic can make a shuttle slower than walking, so we are careful about recommending it.
In Madinah, the streets around the Prophet's Mosque are flatter and the walk is easier, so a slightly wider search still works well. Ask us about room capacity too: quad and quint rooms suit families and groups, and they sell out earlier than doubles in Ramadan.
Fasting, iftar, tarawih and moving through the crowds
Ramadan in Makkah and Madinah is physically demanding in a way that surprises first-time travelers. The days are quiet and the nights are long, and almost everything happens between maghrib and fajr. These are the practical points our travelers raise most often.
- Fasting while traveling: there is a recognized concession for travelers, and whether and how it applies to you is a question for your scholar or group leader, not for a travel agency. We simply plan flights and transfers so that either choice is workable.
- Iftar: hotels near both mosques serve iftar, and meals are also distributed in the mosque courtyards. We put your board arrangement in writing when we book so there is no confusion on the first evening.
- Suhoor: ask for the hotel's suhoor hours before you book. Some kitchens serve until close to fajr and others close early, and a room with a kettle and a small fridge solves the gap.
- Tarawih and qiyam: tarawih follows isha, and in the last ten nights qiyam runs deep into the night. To pray inside the mosque rather than in the outer courtyards, most people arrive well before the prayer begins.
- Visa: US citizens have been eligible for the Saudi tourist e-visa, which is applied for online, and that visa has allowed Umrah outside the Hajj period. A dedicated Umrah visa also exists through approved channels. We confirm which route fits your dates.
- Nusuk permit: separate from the visa. The Umrah permit is reserved in the Nusuk app, and the Rawdah visit in Madinah needs its own reservation. Ramadan slots are limited and go early.
- Passport: valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry, with blank pages for stamps.
- Vaccination: proof of meningococcal ACWY vaccination is required for pilgrims, normally given at least ten days before arrival and valid for a set number of years. Ask your doctor early, as some clinics need to order it.
- Other passports: travelers in your family on Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or other passports follow different rules, including residence and US visa conditions, so we check each traveler separately.
- Confirm before you fly: Saudi requirements change between seasons and sometimes mid-season. Read the current US State Department travel advisory for Saudi Arabia, which was raised in September 2026, and consider enrolling in the STEP alert service before you travel.
- Book 4 to 6 months ahead, and earlier for the last ten nights, when the closest hotels go first.
- Travel in the first half of Ramadan if your dates are flexible, when rooms are easier to hold and the crowds are lighter.
- Compare an open-jaw ticket, into Madinah and out of Jeddah, against a round trip into one city.
- Send us every passport at once, so visa checks and permit accounts are ready before slots open.
- Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour to reach a travel expert.
- Describe the trip: dates, departure city, who is traveling, the pace you like and any meal, room or mobility needs.
- Hear your options and the total for flights, hotels, transfers and tours, with the fare and cancellation rules explained.
- We book and email everything, with a checklist of documents and arrival forms, and stay reachable 24/7 while you travel.
- Umrah packages from the USA for the year-round guide and standard trip lengths.
- Hajj packages from the USA for the pilgrimage season and how registration works.
- Umrah packages from New York for nonstop options out of JFK.
- Umrah packages from Chicago for one-stop routings from the Midwest.
- Umrah packages from Houston for Gulf and Istanbul connections from Texas.
- Umrah packages for elderly parents for a gentler pace and wheelchair help.
Permits. The Umrah permit is reserved in the Nusuk app, and slots for Ramadan are released in advance and taken quickly. The Rawdah visit in Madinah needs its own separate reservation in the same app. We set up the accounts with you, explain how the slots appear, and help the whole family book together rather than one by one.
For the rites of Umrah, the conditions of ihram, and any question of what is required or permitted, please follow your scholar or the scholar traveling with your group. We handle flights, hotels, transport and paperwork, and we will always say so when a question is outside what a travel agency should answer.
Entry rules for US citizens in 2026
Governments change these rules often, so confirm them on official sources before you travel. Recent rules for US passport holders:
Before booking, read the current US State Department travel advisory for every country on your itinerary and consider enrolling in its STEP alert service. Rules for travelers on non-US passports, including green card holders, differ, so tell us every traveler's nationality when you call.
