Real people, no bots. We plan your flights, hotels near the Haram and ground arrangements together and book it over the phone. Prefer to start online? Use Plan My Vacation and we call you back.

Assalamu Alaikum. An Umrah package from the USA with Fond Travels includes round-trip flights from your home airport to Jeddah or Madinah, a hotel within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, a hotel near the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, ground transfers between the airport, Makkah and Madinah, and step-by-step guidance on the Umrah visa and the Nusuk permit. A real travel expert plans the whole journey with you and books it by phone: call +1 (323) 800 6001, 24 hours a day, tell us your city, your dates and who is traveling, and we put the pieces together in one call. This page explains what a package contains, how the journey works from each major US airport, when to go in 2026 and 2027, and what documents you need before you leave.

What is included in an Umrah package from the USA

Every Umrah package is built around the traveler, so the exact mix changes from family to family. A typical package we arrange by phone includes:

  • Flights from your US departure airport to Jeddah (JED) or Madinah (MED), with routings compared for total journey time, connection length and comfort. Many pilgrims fly into one city and out of the other so they never double back.
  • A hotel in Makkah chosen by its distance to the Haram, from properties on the courtyard itself to quieter buildings a short walk or shuttle ride away.
  • A hotel in Madinah near the Prophet's Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi), so you can walk to prayers rather than plan around traffic.
  • Ground transfers: airport pickup on arrival, transport between Makkah and Madinah by private vehicle or the high-speed train, and the return to the airport.
  • Visa guidance covering the Umrah e-visa or tourist e-visa, the Nusuk permit, passport validity and vaccination records, explained in the order you need to do them.
  • Group or private options: join a scheduled departure with a guide, or travel privately with your own dates and hotels.
  • Assistance requests for elderly pilgrims and anyone with mobility or medical needs, noted on every flight segment and passed to the ground team.
  • One number to call before you leave and while you are away, answered 24/7 by a real person in the United States.

Optional additions include a ziyarat tour of the historic sites in Makkah and Madinah, extra nights in either city, a stopover in the connecting city on the way home, and travel protection. Ask about any of these when you call.

Which airport are you flying from?

Where you start shapes the whole trip: whether a nonstop exists, which connecting city makes sense, and how long you will be traveling door to door. Here is how Umrah travel typically works from the eight busiest departure points we book. All journey times are approximate and depend on the schedule for your dates.

New York (JFK / EWR)

New York has the most options of any US city. Nonstop service between JFK and Jeddah has operated for several years, at roughly twelve hours eastbound, which makes it the shortest way to reach the Haram from the East Coast. From Newark and on days when the nonstop does not fit, one-stop routings connect through Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi or a European city such as London, Paris or Frankfurt, for a total journey of fifteen to nineteen hours. Madinah is usually reached with one stop. Tri-state pilgrims traveling in Ramadan should book early; the nonstop fills first. Full planning guide: Umrah packages from New York (JFK and Newark).

Washington, DC (IAD)

Dulles has had nonstop service to Riyadh, from which Jeddah and Madinah are a short domestic hop or a connection on the same ticket. Most Umrah travelers from Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC fly one stop through Istanbul, Doha or Dubai and land in Jeddah or Madinah directly, in about sixteen to nineteen hours. Because our office is in Woodbridge, Virginia, we book more pilgrims out of Dulles than any other airport and know its terminal, its rush hours and its winter weather patterns well.

Chicago (ORD)

There is no nonstop from Chicago to Saudi Arabia, so every routing has one stop. The most common connecting cities are Istanbul, Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with European connections through London, Frankfurt or Amsterdam as alternatives. Expect seventeen to twenty hours in total. Chicago's large community groups often travel together; we hold seats as a block so a mosque group from the suburbs arrives on the same flight. Full planning guide: Umrah packages from Chicago (O'Hare).

Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)

DFW connects to Jeddah and Madinah with one stop through Doha, Dubai, Istanbul or Abu Dhabi, and occasionally through a European hub. Total journey time runs about eighteen to twenty-one hours. Gulf connections tend to have the shortest layovers and arrive in Jeddah in the evening, which works well for a same-night transfer to Makkah. Full planning guide: Umrah packages from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).

Houston (IAH)

Houston travelers have long enjoyed convenient one-stop service through Doha, Dubai and Istanbul, with arrival in Jeddah or Madinah in about eighteen to twenty hours. Houston's Umrah season peaks in the winter school break and in Ramadan; the earlier we know your dates, the more choice you have in connection times and seating. Full planning guide: Umrah packages from Houston (IAH).

Los Angeles (LAX)

Los Angeles has had nonstop service to Jeddah in some seasons, one of the longest flights in the world at around sixteen hours; when it is not operating, one-stop routings through Doha, Dubai, Istanbul or a European city take twenty to twenty-three hours. West Coast pilgrims usually prefer an evening departure so they sleep through the long first leg, and we compare cabin options if you want more room on the way there.

Detroit (DTW)

Detroit and Dearborn send large numbers of pilgrims each year. Routings run one stop through Istanbul, Doha, Dubai or Amsterdam, with a total of about seventeen to twenty hours. Michigan groups traveling for Ramadan often combine a Madinah-first itinerary with the return from Jeddah; we arrange the train or private transfer between the two cities so the timing lines up with your hotel check-in.

Atlanta (ATL)

Atlanta connects to Jeddah and Madinah with one stop, most often through Doha, Dubai, Istanbul or Paris, in roughly seventeen to twenty hours. Nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh has been scheduled to begin in late 2026, which would add a domestic connection to Jeddah or Madinah; ask the expert what is operating for your dates. Southeast pilgrims from the Carolinas, Alabama and Tennessee frequently start from Atlanta because of its choice of connections.

Flying from another city? We book Umrah from every US airport, including Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, Orlando, Minneapolis, Denver, Phoenix, Seattle and San Francisco. See our flights page for the cities we serve, or simply call.

When to go: Umrah calendar for 2026 and 2027

Umrah can be performed in any month outside the Hajj period, and the right time depends on your priorities: the spiritual weight of Ramadan, the practicality of school holidays, or the calm of the quieter months. The dates below are approximate and are confirmed with the lunar calendar each year.

SeasonApproximate datesWhat to expect
Fall 2026 (Rabi al-Awwal to Jumada)September to December 2026Moderate crowds, cooler evenings from November, wide hotel choice.
Winter school breakLate December 2026 to early January 2027Very popular with US families; book flights and Haram-view hotels months ahead.
Rajab and ShabanJanuary to early February 2027Pleasant weather, lower crowds than Ramadan; a good window for seniors and first-timers.
Ramadan 1448Approximately February 8 to March 9, 2027Peak season; the last ten nights are the busiest of the year. Nonstops and hotels near the Haram sell out first.
Eid al-Fitr and spring breakMid-March to April 2027Busy for the Eid days, then easing; warm days begin.
Pre-Hajj closureRoughly mid-April to late May 2027Umrah visas are typically not issued in the weeks before Hajj (Hajj 2027 is expected around May 14 to 19). Plan for before or after.
Summer 2027June to August 2027Hot but far less crowded; many families travel after school ends.

If your dates are flexible, tell the expert and we will point out the weeks where flights and hotels are easiest to arrange for your group.

Umrah visa and documents for US citizens

Requirements are set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and change from season to season, so treat the points below as a starting checklist and confirm the current rules with the expert when you call.

  • Visa. US passport holders have two common paths: an Umrah e-visa arranged through the Nusuk platform and its licensed providers, or the Saudi tourist e-visa, which has allowed Umrah outside the Hajj season. In recent seasons the Umrah visa has had to be linked to a confirmed hotel booking made through the Nusuk system.
  • Nusuk permit. Regardless of visa type, pilgrims have been required to reserve an Umrah permit in the Nusuk app before performing Umrah. We walk you through the app on the call if you have not used it.
  • Passport. Valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date, with blank pages. Renewals can take weeks, so check this first.
  • Vaccinations. A quadrivalent meningococcal (ACWY) vaccination has been required for Umrah travelers, given at least ten days before arrival, with proof carried in your documents. Your doctor can advise on anything else for your own health.
  • Green-card holders and non-US passports. Rules differ by nationality. Tell us every traveler's passport country and we will explain the path for each.
  • Women and children. Women of all ages have been able to perform Umrah without a mahram in recent seasons. Children need their own passport and visa.

Hotels and distance to the Haram

We do not name hotel brands on this page, because the useful question is not the brand but the walk. In Makkah, hotels fall into three broad groups: properties on the Haram courtyard or the surrounding towers with prayer-hall views and a two-to-five-minute walk; hotels in the Ajyad, Misfalah and Jabal Omar districts within a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk; and hotels in Aziziyah and beyond that rely on a shuttle. In Madinah, the central zone around the Prophet's Mosque is compact, and most package hotels are within a five-to-ten-minute walk of the gates. Closer means shorter walks between prayers and a higher nightly rate; a little farther often means larger rooms and a calmer neighborhood. The expert will explain the trade-off for your group and match it to your budget and mobility.

For families, seniors and first-time pilgrims

Families traveling with children can request connecting rooms, longer layovers for a calmer transfer, and Madinah first so the journey eases into Makkah. For senior pilgrims we arrange wheelchair assistance at every airport, aisle seats, hotels with elevators and short walks to the Haram, and a slower schedule with rest days. Our senior travel reservations team handles these requests every day. First-time pilgrims often tell us they do not know where to begin; the phone call is where we start, from passport check to visa steps to what to pack. We do not give religious guidance; your imam, scholar or group leader is the right source for the rites themselves, and a guided group departure includes that support.

Group Umrah vs private Umrah

A group Umrah package means a scheduled departure with a set itinerary, a group leader or scholar, shared transfers and a fixed hotel list. It suits first-timers, community groups and anyone who wants company and structure. A private Umrah package means your own dates, your own hotel choices, private transfers and the freedom to add days in Madinah or a stopover on the way home. It suits families, seniors who need a gentler pace and travelers with fixed vacation dates. Mosque and community groups of ten or more get one coordinator, block seating and a single itinerary; see group travel flights for how we manage large parties.

How booking by phone works

  1. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 any time, day or night. A travel expert answers; there is no menu and no bot.
  2. Tell us the basics: your departure airport, preferred dates or season, number of travelers, how close to the Haram you want to stay, and any assistance needs.
  3. We build the package on the call: flights compared across routings, hotels by distance to the Haram in both cities, transfers and the visa steps, then we quote the total for your dates.
  4. We book it and send confirmations by email, with a checklist of documents and one number to call before and during the journey.

Nonstop from New York takes roughly twelve hours. One-stop routings from Washington, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Detroit and Atlanta through Istanbul, Doha or Dubai take about sixteen to twenty-one hours in total, and from Los Angeles twenty to twenty-three hours with a stop. Both work. Many pilgrims fly into Madinah first, travel to Makkah by high-speed train or private car, and fly home from Jeddah, so they never retrace their steps. Your dates, connections and hotel plan decide which order is easier; the expert will explain the trade-offs.

In recent seasons every pilgrim has needed an Umrah permit reserved through the Nusuk app, whatever visa they hold. Rules are set by Saudi authorities and can change, so we confirm the current requirement when you book and walk you through the app if you have not used it.

The Saudi tourist e-visa has allowed Umrah outside the Hajj season, together with a Nusuk permit. An Umrah-specific e-visa through licensed providers is the other common path. Which is right depends on your dates and travelers; ask the expert to confirm the current rules for your trip.

Ramadan 1448 (approximately February 8 to March 9, 2027) is the most sought-after and the busiest. The winter school break is popular with families. Rajab, Shaban and the fall months offer pleasant weather and easier bookings. Summer is hot but quiet. We help you pick.

For Ramadan, book four to six months ahead because nonstops and hotels near the Haram sell out first. For the winter break, three to four months. For quieter months, six to eight weeks is often enough, though earlier always gives more choice in connections and rooms.
