Best time to visit Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is a desert country, and October through March is the season for comfortable touring. Riyadh has dry winter days in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit with cool nights, while Jeddah on the coast is warmer and more humid, with winter highs in the 80s. AlUla is at its best from November through February, when the winter festival season brings concerts and events and daytime temperatures suit canyon walks; summer there regularly exceeds 105°F. Riyadh and the interior can reach 110°F from June through August, when travel is limited to early mornings and indoor attractions. Ramadan affects daytime dining and opening hours. Saudi Arabia is on UTC+3, seven to eight hours ahead of US Eastern Time depending on daylight saving.

Getting there from the US
Riyadh and Jeddah have nonstop flights from New York and Washington, with eastbound flight times of roughly 12 to 13 hours. From other East Coast and Midwest gateways, expect roughly 14 to 17 hours with one connection through a European or Gulf hub, and roughly 17 to 20 hours from the West Coast. US passport holders are eligible for a tourist e-visa applied for online or a visa on arrival, with a passport valid for six months; requirements change, so verify before travel. Non-Muslim visitors cannot enter Mecca or the central area of Medina. Domestic flights from Riyadh or Jeddah to AlUla take roughly 90 minutes and are included in your package.
