Assalamu Alaikum. An Umrah package from Boston with Fond Travels puts the whole journey in one plan: flights from Boston Logan International (BOS) to Jeddah or Madinah, a hotel within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, a hotel near the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, airport transfers, the high-speed train between the two cities, and guidance on the e-visa and Nusuk permit. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour from Boston, Cambridge, Quincy, Worcester, Providence, southern New Hampshire or anywhere in New England, and a travel expert arranges it with you by phone. This guide covers how Umrah flights from Logan work, how Massachusetts school vacations fit the 2026-2027 Umrah season, and practical tips for departure day.

Flights from Boston to Jeddah and Madinah

Boston has no nonstop flight to Saudi Arabia, so Umrah flights from Logan connect once on the way. The airport has nonstop flights to Dubai, to Istanbul and, on selected days, to Doha, and each of those cities has frequent flights on to Jeddah and Madinah. Logan also has nonstops to many European cities, including London, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam, which add departure times when the Gulf connections are full. Counting the layover, a one-stop journey from Boston usually takes 15 to 19 hours.

Pilgrims who want one long overseas flight straight to Jeddah can take a short shuttle flight or the train to New York and join the JFK nonstop, which operates up to daily. That puts the connection at the start of the trip, which some families find easier with older parents. Your expert compares both approaches and confirms current schedules before quoting.

Should you land in Jeddah or Madinah first?

From New England you cross seven or eight time zones and spend close to a full day traveling. Jeddah first suits energetic travelers and short trips: the high-speed railway station is connected to Terminal 1 at King Abdulaziz International Airport, and Makkah is about an hour to 90 minutes away by car. Because the miqat is crossed in the air, most pilgrims flying to Jeddah change into ihram at the connecting airport or on board.

Madinah first gives you time to rest near Masjid an-Nabawi before the more demanding days in Makkah. You enter ihram at the Madinah miqat as you leave for Makkah, travel by train or private car, and fly home from Jeddah. We usually suggest this order for seniors, families with young children and first-time pilgrims. For the rites themselves, please follow your scholar or group leader.

What is included in an Umrah package from Boston

Every package is built around your family's pace. A typical Boston package includes:

  • Round-trip flights from BOS to Jeddah (JED) or Madinah (MED), compared for journey time, layover and arrival hour, with baggage rules explained up front.
  • Hotels in Makkah by walking distance to the Haram: facing the courtyard, a 10 to 15 minute walk, or a shuttle-served property with more space.
  • Hotels in Madinah in the central zone, most five to ten minutes on foot from the Prophet's Mosque.
  • Transfers from the airport, between Makkah and Madinah by high-speed train (about two to two and a half hours) or private car, and back for your flight home.
  • Visa guidance covering the e-visa, Nusuk permit, passport validity and vaccination proof.
  • Ziyarat tours such as Jabal al-Nour and Mount Arafat near Makkah, and Quba Mosque and Masjid al-Qiblatayn in Madinah.
  • Group or private options, plus wheelchair and other assistance requests on every segment.

When to travel from Boston for Umrah

For the 1448 Umrah season, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that visa issuance opened on May 31, 2026. The last visa issuance is set around March 9, 2027, the last entry around March 23, 2027 and the last departure around April 7, 2027. Umrah visas then pause for the Hajj season, expected in mid-May 2027, and reopen afterwards. The dates follow the lunar calendar, so confirm them before you book.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to run from approximately February 8 to March 9, 2027, with Eid al-Fitr around March 10. New England families often aim for the last ten nights, and hotels nearest the Haram go first, so plan four to six months ahead.

Boston Public Schools' 2026-2027 calendar offers three windows. Winter recess runs from December 24, 2026 to January 1, 2027, with students back on January 5. February vacation, February 16 to 19, 2027, falls in the second week of Ramadan, so a Ramadan Umrah over the February break is realistic if you add a few days. April vacation, April 20 to 23, 2027, comes after the published last departure date, so an April vacation Umrah is not possible this season. Cambridge, Newton, Worcester and Rhode Island calendars differ, so bring your own dates.

Local planning notes for Boston pilgrims

International flights at Logan leave mainly from Terminal E, which has its own entrance and curbside. The Silver Line bus runs from South Station to every terminal, and the Blue Line connects by shuttle, which suits travelers with light bags. From the western suburbs and Worcester, allow extra time for traffic on the Massachusetts Turnpike and through the tunnels at rush hour.

New England winters are the main planning risk. Nor'easters and snow can close runways or delay departures from December to March, which is also the heart of the Umrah season for school families. We avoid tight connections in those months and explain travel protection before you pay.

Be at Logan at least three hours before an international departure, and three and a half hours during Ramadan and the school vacations. Keep passports, visas, the Nusuk permit and vaccination records together in your carry-on bag. Coming home, US immigration and customs are handled at Logan before you collect your bags, and Zamzam water must stay within the airline's allowance, which your expert explains when you book.

Many New England pilgrims combine Umrah with a family visit on the way, for example a few days in Istanbul or Dubai, which can often be added to the same ticket at little extra cost. Your expert can also plan a quiet day in Madinah at the start of the trip so jet lag does not weigh on the first visit to the Prophet's Mosque.

Pilgrims from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut also start at Logan, by car, bus or a short flight. Wherever you begin, we request wheelchair assistance at every airport, reserve aisle seats and pick hotels with short walks. Our senior travel reservations desk handles these arrangements every day.

Mosque and community groups from Greater Boston and across New England often travel together over the February vacation and the winter recess. For ten or more travelers we reserve a block of seats on one routing, keep hotels and transfers together and name a single coordinator. See how we manage group travel flights. First-time pilgrims can call without any preparation.

Umrah visa and documents for US passport holders

Saudi authorities set these rules and revise them between seasons, so confirm them before travel. Before booking, also read the current US State Department travel advisory for Saudi Arabia and the countries you connect through, consider enrolling in its STEP alert service, and expect some Gulf flight schedules to change at short notice in 2026. In recent seasons the checklist has been:

  • Visa: the Saudi tourist e-visa, which US citizens have been eligible for and which the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed allows Umrah outside the Hajj period, or an Umrah e-visa through Nusuk or a licensed provider.
  • Nusuk permit: an Umrah permit reserved in the Nusuk app before performing Umrah at Masjid al-Haram.
  • Passport: valid for at least six months from your entry date.
  • Vaccination: quadrivalent (ACWY) meningococcal vaccine at least 10 days before arrival and within the last three to five years, depending on vaccine type.
  • Mixed-nationality families: a separate check for anyone traveling on a non-US passport, including any transit rules in Europe.

Umrah Packages from Boston: frequently asked questions

Not at present. Logan has no nonstop to Saudi Arabia, so Umrah flights from Boston connect once, most often in Dubai, Istanbul or Doha, or in a European city. The nearest nonstop to Jeddah leaves from JFK. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 and we compare both approaches for your dates.

With one connection, the total journey from Boston to Jeddah usually takes 15 to 19 hours, depending on the layover. Dubai and Istanbul routings are often among the quickest. We compare total travel time, connection length and arrival hour for your dates before you decide.

A typical package includes flights from Logan to Jeddah or Madinah, hotels near Masjid al-Haram and the Prophet's Mosque, airport transfers, the high-speed train or a private car between the cities, e-visa and Nusuk permit guidance, and optional ziyarat tours, arranged as a group or private trip.

International flights at Boston Logan leave mainly from Terminal E. The Silver Line bus from South Station reaches every terminal, which suits travelers with light bags. Your final itinerary lists the terminal for every flight, and your expert confirms it before departure.

Jeddah first suits travelers who want to perform Umrah soon after landing. Madinah first gives time to rest and adjust to the seven or eight hour time difference, and Dubai and Istanbul connections make it easy to arrange. For seniors, children and first-timers, we usually recommend Madinah first.

Yes, with a few extra days. Boston Public Schools' February vacation runs from February 16 to 19, 2027, in the second week of Ramadan. With the weekends it gives nine days, which is short for Umrah from New England, so many families add two or three days.

Not this season. Boston's April vacation is April 20 to 23, 2027, after the published 1448 season deadline of about April 7 for departure. The winter recess from December 24, 2026 and the February vacation are the best school windows for Boston families.

Nor'easters and snow can delay departures from Logan between December and March. We avoid tight connections in those months, prefer comfortable layovers and explain travel protection before you pay, so a snow delay does not unravel your hotel and train bookings.

Start planning four to six months ahead. Ramadan 2027 is expected to run from approximately February 8 to March 9, 2027, subject to moon sighting. The last ten nights bring the highest demand for hotels near the Haram, and the Gulf connections fill quickly then.

Recent seasons have required a passport valid for six months, a Saudi tourist e-visa or Umrah e-visa, an Umrah permit reserved in the Nusuk app, and proof of ACWY meningococcal vaccination at least 10 days before arrival. Saudi rules change between seasons, so confirm before travel.

Yes. Mosque and community groups from Greater Boston, Worcester, Providence and New Hampshire travel with us in the February vacation, the winter recess and Ramadan. For ten or more travelers we reserve a block of seats on one routing, keep the group together and provide one coordinator.

Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour. Tell the expert your dates, how many are traveling, whether you want Jeddah or Madinah first and how close to the Haram you want to stay. We build the itinerary, quote the total, book everything and email confirmations with a checklist.
