Assalamu Alaikum. An Umrah package from Kansas City with Fond Travels puts the whole journey in one plan: flights from Kansas City International (MCI) to Jeddah or Madinah, a hotel within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, a hotel near the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, airport transfers, the high-speed train between the two cities, and guidance on the e-visa and Nusuk permit. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour from Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, the Northland, Lawrence or anywhere in Kansas and western Missouri, and a travel expert arranges it with you by phone. This guide covers how Umrah flights from Kansas City connect, how the school calendar fits the 2026-2027 Umrah season, and practical tips for departure day.

Flights from Kansas City to Jeddah and Madinah

Kansas City has no nonstop flight to Europe, the Gulf or Saudi Arabia, so every Umrah itinerary connects. The most common plan is a short flight of about an hour and a half to Chicago O'Hare, or about an hour and three-quarters to Dallas Fort Worth, where Gulf and Istanbul carriers fly nonstop to Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Istanbul, each with onward flights to Jeddah and Madinah. Counting both connections, the journey usually takes 20 to 24 hours.

Other options include a flight to Washington Dulles or New York JFK for the Jeddah nonstop, to Atlanta for the Riyadh nonstop from October 23, 2026, or to Denver for the Istanbul nonstop. Your expert compares every routing and confirms current schedules before quoting.

Should you land in Jeddah or Madinah first?

From Kansas and Missouri you cross eight or nine time zones and spend close to a full day traveling. Jeddah first suits energetic travelers and short trips: the high-speed railway station is connected to Terminal 1 at King Abdulaziz International Airport, and Makkah is about an hour to 90 minutes away by car. Because the miqat is crossed in the air, most pilgrims flying to Jeddah change into ihram at the connecting airport or on board.

Madinah first gives you time to rest near Masjid an-Nabawi before the more demanding days in Makkah. You enter ihram at the Madinah miqat as you leave for Makkah, travel by train or private car, and fly home from Jeddah. We usually suggest this order for seniors, families with young children and first-time pilgrims. For the rites themselves, please follow your scholar or group leader.

What is included in an Umrah package from Kansas City

Every package is built around your family's pace. A typical Kansas City package includes:

  • Round-trip flights from MCI to Jeddah (JED) or Madinah (MED), compared for journey time, layover and arrival hour, with baggage rules explained up front.
  • Hotels in Makkah by walking distance to the Haram: facing the courtyard, a 10 to 15 minute walk, or a shuttle-served property with more space.
  • Hotels in Madinah in the central zone, most five to ten minutes on foot from the Prophet's Mosque.
  • Transfers from the airport, between Makkah and Madinah by high-speed train (about two to two and a half hours) or private car, and back for your flight home.
  • Visa guidance covering the e-visa, Nusuk permit, passport validity and vaccination proof.
  • Ziyarat tours such as Jabal al-Nour and Mount Arafat near Makkah, and Quba Mosque and Masjid al-Qiblatayn in Madinah.
  • Group or private options, plus wheelchair and other assistance requests on every segment.

When to travel from Kansas City for Umrah

For the 1448 Umrah season, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that visa issuance opened on May 31, 2026. The last visa issuance is set around March 9, 2027, the last entry around March 23, 2027 and the last departure around April 7, 2027. Umrah visas then pause for the Hajj season, expected in mid-May 2027, and reopen afterwards. The dates follow the lunar calendar, so confirm them before you book.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to run from approximately February 8 to March 9, 2027, with Eid al-Fitr around March 10. Kansas City families often aim for the last ten nights, and hotels nearest the Haram go first, so plan four to six months ahead.

The Olathe Public Schools 2026-2027 calendar offers Thanksgiving week from November 23 to 27, 2026, a winter break from December 21, 2026 to January 1, 2027, and a spring break from March 15 to 19, 2027, which comes just after Ramadan and before the published last entry date of about March 23, so a short post-Ramadan Umrah is possible. Kansas City Public Schools, Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission publish their own dates, so bring your calendar when you call.

Local planning notes for Kansas City pilgrims

Kansas City International opened a new single terminal in 2023, with a customs hall for international arrivals, so check-in, security and parking are all in one building. From the Northland the drive is about 15 minutes, from downtown about 25 minutes, and from Overland Park and Olathe about 35 to 45 minutes.

Kansas City has growing Somali, Bosnian, Arab and South Asian communities, and many families travel with relatives who hold other passports. Saudi visa rules differ by nationality, so we check each traveler's documents separately and make sure names match the passports exactly on every ticket.

Winter storms and ice can delay departures from Kansas City and from Chicago between December and February, which overlaps the winter break. We avoid tight connections in those months, prefer comfortable layovers and explain travel protection before you pay.

Book the whole trip on one ticket so bags are checked through to Jeddah or Madinah and a delayed first flight is protected. Coming home, you clear US immigration and customs at the first US airport before the short flight back to Kansas City. Zamzam water must stay within the airline's allowance.

Pilgrims from Lawrence, Topeka, St. Joseph, Wichita and across Kansas and western Missouri also start at Kansas City. Wherever you begin, we request wheelchair assistance at every airport, reserve aisle seats and pick hotels with short walks. Our senior travel reservations desk handles these arrangements every day.

Mosque and community groups from Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe and Independence often travel together over Thanksgiving week, the winter break and in Ramadan. For ten or more travelers we reserve a block of seats on one routing, keep hotels and transfers together and name a single coordinator. See how we manage group travel flights. First-time pilgrims can call without any preparation.

Umrah visa and documents for US passport holders

Saudi authorities set these rules and revise them between seasons, so confirm them before travel. Before booking, also read the current US State Department travel advisory for Saudi Arabia and the countries you connect through, consider enrolling in its STEP alert service, and expect some Gulf flight schedules to change at short notice in 2026. In recent seasons the checklist has been:

  • Visa: the Saudi tourist e-visa, which US citizens have been eligible for and which the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed allows Umrah outside the Hajj period, or an Umrah e-visa through Nusuk or a licensed provider.
  • Nusuk permit: an Umrah permit reserved in the Nusuk app before performing Umrah at Masjid al-Haram.
  • Passport: valid for at least six months from your entry date.
  • Vaccination: quadrivalent (ACWY) meningococcal vaccine at least 10 days before arrival and within the last three to five years, depending on vaccine type.
  • Mixed-nationality families: a separate check for anyone traveling on a non-US passport, including Somali, Bosnian and other passports common in Kansas City families.

Umrah Packages from Kansas City: frequently asked questions

No. Kansas City has no nonstop to Saudi Arabia, the Gulf or Europe. Pilgrims connect through Chicago or Dallas on Gulf and Istanbul flights, or through Dulles or JFK for the Jeddah nonstop. Call +1 (323) 800 6001 and a travel expert compares every option for your dates.

With two connections, through Chicago or Dallas and a Gulf or Istanbul hub, the total journey usually takes 20 to 24 hours. A short flight to Dulles or JFK and the Jeddah nonstop takes about 19 to 23 hours. We compare total time and arrival hour for your dates.

A typical package includes flights from Kansas City to Jeddah or Madinah, hotels near Masjid al-Haram and the Prophet's Mosque, airport transfers, the high-speed train or a private car between the cities, e-visa and Nusuk permit guidance, and optional ziyarat tours, arranged as a group or private trip.

Both work well. Chicago has more Gulf and Istanbul departures and is a slightly shorter first flight, while Dallas avoids Chicago winter weather. Your expert compares total time, layover length and arrival hour in Jeddah or Madinah for your dates.

Jeddah first suits travelers who want to perform Umrah soon after landing. Madinah first gives time to rest and adjust to the eight or nine hour time difference. For seniors, children and first-timers, we usually recommend Madinah first, flying home from Jeddah.

Yes, with planning. Olathe's spring break is March 15 to 19, 2027, just after Ramadan and before the published last entry date of about March 23. With the weekends, a trip of about nine days is possible, so book flights and hotels early.

It can. Winter storms and ice can delay departures from Kansas City and Chicago between December and February. We avoid tight connections in those months, often suggest Dallas instead, and explain travel protection before you pay, so a delay does not unravel your bookings.

Start planning four to six months ahead. Ramadan 2027 is expected to run from approximately February 8 to March 9, 2027, subject to moon sighting. The last ten nights bring the highest demand for hotels near the Haram and for connecting flights.

Yes. Olathe's Thanksgiving week, November 23 to 27, 2026, gives nine days with the weekends, enough for a short Umrah with a few nights in each city. Flights around Thanksgiving are busy, so we suggest booking at least two to three months ahead.

Recent seasons have required a passport valid for six months, a Saudi tourist e-visa or Umrah e-visa, an Umrah permit reserved in the Nusuk app, and proof of ACWY meningococcal vaccination at least 10 days before arrival. Saudi rules change between seasons, so confirm before travel.

Yes. Mosque and community groups from Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe and Independence travel with us over school breaks and Ramadan. For ten or more travelers we reserve a block of seats on one routing, keep the group in matching hotels and provide one coordinator.

Call +1 (323) 800 6001 at any hour. Tell the expert your dates, how many are traveling, whether you want Jeddah or Madinah first and how close to the Haram you want to stay. We build the itinerary, quote the total, book everything and email confirmations with a checklist.
